Our first new class in our 2012 line-up comes from Lindsay Renz and is a great project for a new year. What better way to store all your beautiful hand made cards than in a beautiful paper crafted storage box? And to start off with 5 great cards to put in it!

The Card Box and 5 Cards

This class is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th from 10:30am-2pm and has a class fee of $28. The class fee includes the box, all papers to cover the box, and all materials needed for five cards with envelopes. This class will be presented in pre-cut kit form and will be completed in one class session. Participants will need to bring your basic scrapbooking tools. (cutters, adhesive, inks, scissors, etc) Class size is limited.

I never did get a January calendar created, not a great way to start the new year, huh? For those of you who like to have one on-hand to refer to, I apologize. What I thought I would do  is give you a head’s up to anything that remains in January and try to start fresh with a February calendar… on-time!

OK, by now you should know that our 7th Annual Cropical Get-Away in this Saturday! January 21st from 9am until 10pm. We have submitted our final count so this crop is officially SOLD OUT. We are very excited about it and hope you are too. (From our responses to the various reminders we have sent, it seems like everyone is really excited too!)

The rest of the month is pretty light, event-wise, although we are happy to have the Altered Journal Book Club resume it’s meetings with their first for 2012 meeting tonight, Wednesday, January 18th from 6-8pm.

The 2012 Recipe Club began earlier this month and Tiffany said that this year’s group is awesome and she is looking forward to another great Recipe Club!

Pot Luck Thursday is tomorrow, January 19th. (Bring a dish to share and have a great night of food, fun and scrappin’)

The January Issue of the Kit Terrific Klub will land on January 26th.

We left the end of January pretty open as we gear up for our new line-up of classes and some super awesome projects we will be unveiling soon!

Look for new class postings over the next few days. All our new classes have already been added to the web-site under Class/Events and have on-line registrations.

As for 2012 Crops. We are registering for crops up to and including May. February and March are already sold-out with short waiting lists starting. April has a few seats available and May is about half full!  We are on the hunt for an off-site venue for both July (Christmas in July) and September (Anniversary Crop) Crops so we will keep you posted on that as well.

One of the first things listed on our “To do List” after the New Year was to clean up the back room. It had become an amazing mess of accumulated stuff and I give a huge amount of credit and hugs of appreciation to Tiffany and our Mom, Maria for getting in there while I was vacationing and making it literally shine! The transformation is unreal! So, why am I telling you this? Well, out of chaos comes great ideas, and Tiffany had a new great idea pop into her head as she was cleaning out that back room!

"A Year in Review"... New Offering at Captured Moments

Names have been tossed around, but basically, what we are calling it at this point is “A Year in Review, a Month at a Time”.  One way that Tiffany described the idea to me was as a kind of, “scrapbook daily”, offered over 3 out of 4 weeks each month. This very unique scrapbooking idea utilizes a variety of page protectors, page sizes, as well as a wide range of page -building techniques.  It’s not easy to describe, but we can say that by the end of the year, this project is sure to be one of the most interesting  creations we’ve come up with!

This will be the 7th “Cropical Get-Away” Crop that Captured Moments has had! We are really looking forward to next weekend (Saturday, January 21st, beginning at 9am and ending at 10pm) and have so much fun stuff planned for the day! We just want to remind everyone that the crop is off-site at the Stadium Golf Course Banquet Hall. (The address is 333 Jackson Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12304) More info regarding the location and directions will be posted at the end of this entry.

For those of you who are not joining us this year for the crop, please note that the store will be closed on Saturday, January 21st, as we pretty much pack up the whole store and bring it with us to the offsite crop. Read the rest of this entry »
