The 2nd in a series of class offerings, pretty much unrelated to paper crafting, is one of my passions… Porcelain Dollmaking!

I started making antique reproductions porcelain dolls in 1984 and have continued to keep my hands in this art ever since. One branch of dollmaking that allowed me to be very creative (reproduction dollmaking is very strict as you might imagine) was the “Modern” dollmaking branch. With “modern” dollmaking, basically, anything goes. I fell in love with a number of modern doll molds but I was really crazy about these small, beautifully designed fairies and I have since created hundreds of these playful nimphs!

The possibilities for these fairies are endless and no two can be the same! This class has been scheduled for Saturday, March 31st beginning at 10am and running until 3pm. The class fee is $85 and includes everything you will need. I have set aside the full day allowing as much time as anyone needs. Most likely, the workshop will wrap up earlier than 3pm.

Tiffany and I thought it would be fun to bring in some non paper-crafting classes and workshops into the store just for a change of pace. Both of us have done a number of interesting crafts/arts that we can offer up once in a while. Here is the first in a series of this type of non-scrapbooking class offering.

Wool Felting is a fun and relaxing craft. Felting is used to embellish clothing, bags, shoes, really anything, but here, we are offering a beginning class, showing all the basics in felting, to create a frame-able piece. The cute little snowman looking toward the sky is just the beginning of what may become a favorite past-time for you. (2nd to scrapping, of course!)

This class is scheduled for Saturday, February 18th from 10am until noon. The class fee is $22 and includes all needed materials to complete the felted snowman, it does not include a frame.

Our first new class in our 2012 line-up comes from Lindsay Renz and is a great project for a new year. What better way to store all your beautiful hand made cards than in a beautiful paper crafted storage box? And to start off with 5 great cards to put in it!

The Card Box and 5 Cards

This class is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th from 10:30am-2pm and has a class fee of $28. The class fee includes the box, all papers to cover the box, and all materials needed for five cards with envelopes. This class will be presented in pre-cut kit form and will be completed in one class session. Participants will need to bring your basic scrapbooking tools. (cutters, adhesive, inks, scissors, etc) Class size is limited.

I never did get a January calendar created, not a great way to start the new year, huh? For those of you who like to have one on-hand to refer to, I apologize. What I thought I would do  is give you a head’s up to anything that remains in January and try to start fresh with a February calendar… on-time!

OK, by now you should know that our 7th Annual Cropical Get-Away in this Saturday! January 21st from 9am until 10pm. We have submitted our final count so this crop is officially SOLD OUT. We are very excited about it and hope you are too. (From our responses to the various reminders we have sent, it seems like everyone is really excited too!)

The rest of the month is pretty light, event-wise, although we are happy to have the Altered Journal Book Club resume it’s meetings with their first for 2012 meeting tonight, Wednesday, January 18th from 6-8pm.

The 2012 Recipe Club began earlier this month and Tiffany said that this year’s group is awesome and she is looking forward to another great Recipe Club!

Pot Luck Thursday is tomorrow, January 19th. (Bring a dish to share and have a great night of food, fun and scrappin’)

The January Issue of the Kit Terrific Klub will land on January 26th.

We left the end of January pretty open as we gear up for our new line-up of classes and some super awesome projects we will be unveiling soon!

Look for new class postings over the next few days. All our new classes have already been added to the web-site under Class/Events and have on-line registrations.

As for 2012 Crops. We are registering for crops up to and including May. February and March are already sold-out with short waiting lists starting. April has a few seats available and May is about half full!  We are on the hunt for an off-site venue for both July (Christmas in July) and September (Anniversary Crop) Crops so we will keep you posted on that as well.
