One of our Fall classes being offered is an October daily, of sorts, called the Halloween Spooktacular. This is a fun project that uses a little bit of everything and everthing is “Halloween” to create a great Halloween book.
The image really doesn't do this book justice... it's so fun to see in person!

The project uses many different layers to build the book. Blackboard pages are layered between fabric ones, acryllic pages, paper pages, etc… a little bit of a lot of things. There are places for photos and journaling… or not, the book can stand alone as a mini work of art!

Flag Ornament Make & Take for any Occasion!

Altered Art/ Paper Crafting, Make & Take Samples, Scrapbook Inspiration Gallery! 1 Comment

There were a few themes that ran rampant throughout the convention floor at CHA Summer. We noticed that Flag Banners were all the rage as was dress forms, and Paris! We saw them everywhere and we saw some amazingly good ideas on how to use these themes to really make a statement. Maya Road loves chipoboard and layers and we were inspired by their creations to create this Make & Take.

Using scallops and accordians, buttons and paper flowers, this collage makes a great decoration for many occasions!

The possibilities are endless with this idea. Use any paper combos to change the theme, any embellishments to further the possibilities. Imagine a Holiday theme and attaching this beautiful ornament to a special gift box. These are so fun to make and is a GREAT way to use up scraps of paper and left over embellishments!

Graphic 45 Blew us Away at CHA!

Altered Art/ Paper Crafting, Just for Fun!, Store News and Events 4 Comments

As exciting as the entire CHA experience was, Tiffany and I agree that we were blown away by Graphic 45’s presentation. Not only do we love all of their papers, (and now they have some awesome embellishments too) their booth was a step right onto their artwork and into their paper! Inside their booth structure, you felt like  Alice in Wonderland, with the Hallowe’en twist!

This illuminated clock tower rose above the convention floor making it easy for Tiffany and I to return to the booth over and over for another look!

The display was so full of interest and creativity we had to keep coming back, it was a sensory overload on top of a sensory overload from just being at CHA. Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, We Met Tim Holtz at CHA!!

Altered Art/ Paper Crafting, Store News and Events 3 Comments

Ok, so each morning we gathered at the main entrance to the convention floor and as it got closer and closer, the excitement built… Besides the Cricut booth being immediately inside the doors, Mr. Tim Holtz was scheduled to demo his new Sizzix Vagabond Machine from 9-10am along with autographing “alterations faded textures embossing folders”… (while supplies last). For the first two days, Tiff and I avoided the mad, stampede and went in the complete opposite direction. We admit, by day 3, we couldn’t help ourselves, we played right into the hype and rushed to the Sizzix booth hoping to get the autographed folders!

He's a cutie for sure, always smiling and happy to chat!
