A “Bits & Pieces” Mini Book Project

Altered Art/ Paper Crafting, Tutorials

Front of book

This project was offered as a Tuesday Make & Take. Basically, we went through all of our “stash” and pulled a bunch of fun stuff that we thought would work for this book idea. We found mini envelopes, badge covers, clock faces, tags, die cuts, library pockets, library cards, and journaling cards as well as a plethora of odds & ends to add to the interest.

Here is everything we used in this project laid out.

As a challenge, go through your scrapbook bag and pull 10 things that could be used to create a really interesting mini book. Pull items that form a pocket or that are a pocket, that can be journaled on or that has room for a photo or other piece of memorabilia.

Using extra embellishments or rubber stamp images add even more layers and interest.

We used some self-inking mini stamps, a journal stamp, some cool images and a Tim Holtz mini stapler

Here is a page by page photo stream showing how we brought all these bits & pieces together into a really fun and interesting little album.

We used a die cut scallop square as a civer and stamped a journaling stamp on the inside cover. We added a badge cover and used a letter "Z" card as an embellishment, creating a tag.

Here we added a manilla tag to the mix and another journal ing card as page 6. This journal card is actually folded in have and stapled at the bottom forming a pocket. We've added a tag as well.

Once all the pages are selected and placed in order, a hole punch is used to make binding holes. Ribbon or cord is then used to tie the book together.

This was a fun and easy project. I bet that some people have enough “spare parts” in their scrapbook bags to put a few of these books together. What a great way to highlight a special occasion or photo grouping, especially if there is journaling to go with it. This little project lends itself to journaling along with some photos. It’s a real conversation piece. Have fun with them!
